Can LLMs Contribute to Science?

On the risks and rewards of automating science with LLMs. This project examines when LLM outputs can function as evidence, explanation, and justification, and develops a normative framework for incorporating LLMs into scientific practice: criteria for adoption, principles for dividing labour between humans and models, and standards for responsibility and credit in hybrid research teams.
